Starting with 2015, the Girls Rock Santa Barbara program is backed by the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation. Kenny Slaught, believes that girls can be empowered through music, and is sure that the organization is an ideal environment for the development of self-confidence and creativity in kids. Girls participate in music lessons, workshops, and give performances, as these are regular activities in the program. They question common gender standards, cooperate, and learn to let go of prejudices. Thus, Girls Rock Santa Barbara continues the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation’s goal of helping everyone in having access to music and art.
